Forty hikers and family members got together to renew old friendships and to talk about the upcoming hiking season. A big thank you to Gary and Rita Haliena for offering up the clubhouse at Waterford Pointe.

Three enjoyed the beautiful deep blue skies on this 7.5 mile hike.
Eight enjoyed the scenic views of Rabun Bald, with an additional add on down the road. We visited the Muddy Creek Falls located in the Sky Valley Community. We took advantage of a trail near the Falls which added another mile to our trek making a total of seven miles.
Six hikers trekked six miles observing beautiful vistas, crossing multiple streams and multiple delights with the spring flowers. At the 4100 foot summit was a beautiful place for lunch.
13 hikers trekked 7 miles along the Chattooga River. Along the way, we saw wild flowers galore and burnt out areas of the forrest. The ever beautiful Kings Creek Falls was certainly a delight.
11 hikers explored the Panthertown Valley. Trekking 6-7 miles we saw 3 Waterfalls, the Great Wall, gorgeous vistas and multiple streams.
Two did the posted hike in reverse. They hoped to run into other Ramblers at the midpoint but alas were the only two that enjoyed the beauty of the hike this day.
Nine hiked a bit over 6 miles to the Chattooga Narrows on a nice trail. A great hike on a beautiful day overall.
Two hiked to the top of Twin Falls and enjoyed the water and wild flowers galore. On the return from the top, we ran into two others who started out later. We then drove to and hiked the traditional Twin Falls viewing area.
Nine hikers had a glorious day hiking along the Middle Saluda River. 7.5 miles, 1380 Elevation Gain along the Jones Gap and SilverStep trail. Plenty of challenge and spring flowers galore. One of our hikers made a contribution of a cute gnome to the hidden GeoCash. Until next year….
9 hikers and 1 pup hiked a part of the FT than none of us had ever hiked. It provided lush valleys, beautiful wild flowers and multiple bridge crossings. We continued on to Beech Falls for lunch and then headed back. Total mileage was about 6 miles.
Four enjoyed a beautiful spring day and hiked 4 miles in the Ashmore Heritage Preserve.
Nine hiked the Tennessee Rock trail on Black Rock Mountain, then took the Springhouse trail to Ada Hi Falls for a total of about 4 miles.
10 hikers and 3 dogs hiked 8.5 miles on the foothills trail. 2 Beautiful waterfalls, 7 bridge crossings and early spring flowers made for a spectacular day.
Seven hardy hikers braved the cold trekking over 4 miles to beautiful Whiteside mountain and devil’s courthouse. Frozen streams, waterfall and icecicles made for a spectacular but could day.
From Warwoman Dell up to Becky Branch and Martin Creek Falls, early spring flowers greeted seven hikers as if to say, “Have a Great Day!” (4 mi)
Nine hikers and 1 pup trekked 5.5 miles along the Middle Saluda River in Jones Gap State Park.
11 hikers had a lovely day visiting one of the prettiest waterfalls in Oconee County. Even though the hike itself was only 4 miles, several stream crossings made it a bit tricky. There were plenty of wet feet, but lots of helping hands made it a lot easier.
11 hikers trekked around Medlin Mountain through a lush forest and along the Chatooga River. Half the group cut the trip short at 5.5 miles, but the others trekked on for a total of 9.5 miles. A beautiful day indeed complete with two waterfalls.
11 hikers and 1 pup trekked six miles along and above the Chattooga River. Quite the obstacle course with fallen trees and slippery rocks, which made the adventure all the more exciting.
Twelve hikers completed the strenuous trek of Bald knob with 7.5 miles. Smiles for sure at the beginning and at the end!! (But certainly not in the middle) Great job all!!
12 hikers enjoyed a little over 4 miles in Chau Ram State Park. Chauga River was flowing quickly making for a lovely time.
15 hikers trekked 8.5 miles around Dodge Mountain into the valley and up to Long Mountain. We had lunch at the base of the tower.
13 hikers and 1 dog trekked 5.5 miles through a mix of flat and rolling terrain. We had a lunch at the base of a swinging bridge.
Eleven hikers found a slice of ‘heaven’ overlooking the beautiful vista of Scaly Mountain. The hike was only four miles, but the day was filled with lots of smiles. A perfect ending was found sharing a beer.
Sixteen hikers trekked 5.5 miles in the Eastatoe Creek Heritage Preserve. We hiked on a glorious day experiencing a pristine mountain gorge, falls and bold stream.
A trio trekked along on the first hike of the New Year. It was a nice five mile walk in the woods on a pleasant day.

Seven hikers trekked almost nine miles from Russell Bridge to the iconic Pig Pen Falls. After a lunch, complete with Buckyes candy, we headed back. We saw interesting icecycle formations and then headed back along the beautiful Chattooga River.
Two hiked 4 miles on a chilly but pleasant morning.
Two did about 2.5 miles at Chau Ram. Recent rains made for a raging Chauga River.
Five hikers and 2 pups trekked through the Clemson Experimental Forrest. Hiked 6 miles along the east side of Isaqueena Lake and had lunch at the dam.
Nine hikers hiked along the beautiful and yet challenging Carrick Creek Trail. A total of 2000 ft elevation gain made for a challenging but wonderful day. Half the group went only to Governors Rock at 2854 ft, and the other half made it all the way to the summit at 3157 ft.
Eight hikers trekked 7 miles starting at the Winding Stairs road up to the Cherry Hill Recreation area.
Thirteen hikers trekked 6 miles up to Round Mountain. It included fine wintertime vistas of Lake Jocassee and Bad Creek, an encounter with the iconic Upper Whitewater Falls, and with its headwaters.
Eleven hikers did a little of five miles through rolling hills and multiple stream crossings. A beautiful sunny day!
Thirteen hikers hiked 4 miles to a beautiful vista in Oconee State Park.
17 hikers enjoyed 5 miles on the Camp Branch trail down to beautiful Opossum Falls. One tired pup (aka Bandit) needed a ride up in a backup!!

Sassafras Mountain is the highest point in SC at 3554 ft. 11 hikers enjoyed this majestic view from the observation platform. Total mileage 5.8 miles
7 hikers hiked on a beautiful fall day to view the lovely 400 foot Raven Cliff Falls. Trekking on the Gum Gap and Foothills Trail brought beautiful views. Lunch by the swinging Bridge was perfect. Two hikers went on and braved part of the Dismal Trail.
Thompson River is heavily bouldered, bold and beautiful especially where it is joined at a bridged crossing. This is where our group of 12 had lunch under sunny skies. A trek of 7 miles with several climbs made for a wonderful day.
Eight hikers trekked 6.7 miles through lush foliage. The initial creek crossing was not as difficult because of low water. Thankfully, no one got wet. We hiked to the junction of the Holcomb, Overflow and Big Creek streams that form the west Branch of the Chattooga River. A beautiful spot for lunch was enjoyed by all.
16 hikers enjoyed a combination of creek, lakeside, small falls, rockery, natural bridge plus a fine vista from Raven Rock overlooking beautiful Lake Keowee. Sunny skies, warm temperature made the 5 miles fly by,
Thirteen hikers trekked along the Chatooga river making stops at both PigPen and Licklog Falls. We hiked mostly easy to moderate terrain of 5.5 miles. We saw a true scotsman on the way home sporting a hiking kilt!!

Fourteen hikers braved the cable crossing to get to Moonshine Falls. We also continued our trek down to Confusion Falls The only casualty was a hiking pole that decided to go downstream a bit. Thankfully, it was rescued by one of our fearless hikers.(Thanks Gary H.) A lovely sunny day indeed with a total mileage of 6.5 – 7 miles.
Ten hikers trekked 6.5 miles under sunny skies. Climbed up the Fire tower and had lunch by Hidden Falls.

Seventeen hikers enjoyed beautiful scenery through the Smokey Mtns. Gorgeous water features and views provided us an awesome day.
Eleven hikers explored the beautiful trail along the Horsepasture River. Rainbow Falls, towering 130 ft lived up to its name!! 6 hikers continued on to Staircase Falls (see Thom’s pictures below).
